Why did the novels of Stieg Larsson become so popular earlier this year? They're good books, but weren't they published a few years back? Why did the just now get so huge?|||Probably because of the movies. The movie version by the Swedes came out in 2009 to healthy reception, so that may have generated buzz for it. Also talk of the English language version in the works could be a(nother) reason.|||Ummm, not sure as to why exactly, I've checked in the books and Steig Larsson died in 2004 and his first book wasn't released until 2008.
I don't know, maybe just word of mouth, because he was an unknown author at the time it took a while to get on the best sellers lists and for people to begin recommending them.
Now sure, interesting question.
