Can anyone explain the first chapter in "The girl with the dragon tattoo". By Stieg Larsson?

I am really confused and I don't really know what's going on. So if anyone can give some insight as to what is going on it will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

1 day ago - 3 days left to answer.|||You actually don't need to understand all the details to get into the rest of the book, but the situation is that Blomqvist is fed some information about an ongoing fraud racket at a major company, which he publishes as an article in his magazine, Millennium, making a number of accusations about the company's CEO. However, it appears that he has been set up, because the information is proved in court to be untrue and Blomqvist is therefore sentenced to a short stay in prison (although he doesn't have to serve his sentence immediately, as is sometimes the case with Swedish prison sentences for certain types of offence) and his magazine fined a huge amount of money, affecting its reputation. Honestly, the exact details of the fraud etc don't really matter.

Once you've met Lisbeth and Mikael is employed by Henrik Vanger, everything gets soooo much better, I promise.
